Flora and Fauna
The environment on the Island heavily influenced by nitrogen. The water in ponds lacks oxygen and does not promote animal life.

 

  Flora
flora on the Island is limited, there are very few untouched areas. The domestic animals are grazing on he slops.  Compering to the flora described in the book the variety of plants has diminished. The hares introduced to the island in 19-th century influenced a selection of plants and roe deer deepened the trend. The coryllus and prunus trees disappeared from the freely accessible areas between the fields.
 
 

 

  Fauna
Fauna: Wild, Mammals, Not much variety, mouse, rat, and other field rodents, hare, rabbit , roe deer, mink, hedgehog.  Pesticides have reduced population of amphibian. There is a variety or local and passing birds, sea birds. Historically, during times when the Oresund was frozen some animals such as roe deer, dear, even moose entered the island but never established a sustainable population.
